Rwandan beauty queen Ashimwe Michelle has earned a coveted spot among the 25 contestants set to compete in the prestigious Miss Africa Calabar 2025 pageant. The international competition brings together participants from various countries across the globe, offering them a platform to showcase beauty, intelligence, and cultural pride.
On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Miss Africa Production officially released the final list of contestants. Ashimwe Michelle proudly represents Rwanda alongside contestants like Khadijiatou Ndiaye from Mauritania, Chaimaa Hejam from Morocco, Silvia Ernesto Linha from Mozambique, and Sopuruchi Agoauwuike from Nigeria. Each participant is expected to embody elegance and knowledge while promoting Africa’s rich heritage.
The
grand finale is scheduled for March 30, 2025, in Nigeria, where the winner will
be crowned and awarded a cash prize of $25,000 (over 25 million Rwandan Francs)
along with a brand-new car. This titleholder will succeed Nigeria's Precious O.
Okoye, who won the crown in 2022.
Rwanda
previously participated in the pageant through Mugabekazi Ngoga Anaise in 2022,
though she did not secure the crown. The 2021 edition was canceled due to
health and safety concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic, following guidance
from Nigerian health authorities.
Launched
in 2016, Miss Africa Calabar has become a significant event celebrating African
beauty, culture, and leadership. Hosted annually in Nigeria’s Cross River
State, the pageant empowers young women to advocate for social causes while
fostering cross-cultural connections across the continent.
