This Sunday, 15 June 2014, starting 6.30 pm at Kigali Serena Auditorium / Conference Center there will be a Presentation of 3 brand new Rwandan short films, FILM PREMIERE AWARD GALA and the Closing Ceremony of the film script film competition 2013/2014.
Launched early 2013, the 2nd edition of the film script and film competition will be winded up by a festive FILM GALA the highlight of which is expected to be the presentation of 3 of the most breath taking new short films produced in Rwanda in the last 6 months:
- Yves Montand NIYONGABO “Invincible”/Documentary
- Samuel ISHIMWE “Crossing Lines”/Short fiction
- Philbert Aimé MBABAZI “Hutsi – Akaliza Keza”/Short fiction
Fourty young Rwandan filmmakers had handed in their scripts of which an international jury selected the best three. The principal awards were announced in June 2013. A total of 17,000 USD enabled the chosen film directors to produce their films.
After the premiere of the 3 films at Serena Hotel, the audience will be the one to choose its favorite film. The author of winning film will receive an award of 1 Million Rwandan Francs.
“Gertrude Fester, a Kigali based civil rights activist from South Africa will deliver a keynote speech on “Rethinking Reconciliation” thereby introducing the message of all the films: reconciliation and solidarity building.”Said Lydia, Assistant Director of GOETHE-INSTITUT- KIGALI, German Cultural center.
“Film Premier& Gala Awards is a joint project of the Goethe-Institut, GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), Partnership Rhineland-Palatinate/Rwanda, KfW German Development Bank, Plan Rwanda, and International Alert to Contributing to the 20th commemoration of the Rwandan Genocide, under the patronage of His Excellency the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany”.
