Alain Mukuralinda, widely known as Alain Muku, who served as the Deputy Spokesperson of the Government of Rwanda, has passed away on the morning of Thursday, April 4, 2025.
A family
member confirmed the news to InyaRwanda around 8:00 AM on Friday morning.
Alain
Bernard Mukuralinda, widely known as Alain Muku, was a renowned Rwandan figure
with experience in various fields such as prosecution, government
communication, music, and writing.
He was born
in 1970 in Kigali, where he began showing his musical talent at the age of 9.
He attended APE Rugunga for his primary education, completed his secondary studies
in Rwamagana, and later pursued university education in Belgium.
In 2002,
Alain Muku began working in the prosecution service and eventually became the Spokesperson
for the Office of the Prosecutor General of Rwanda. In 2015, he requested an
indefinite leave from his duties to join his family in the Netherlands, where
his wife, Martine Gatabazi, had been assigned to work with Heineken.
Alain Muku
was also well known in the Rwandan music industry, with popular songs like “Murekatete,”
“Tsinda Batsinde,” “Gloria,” and “Musekeweya.”
He founded
an artist development label called The Boss Papa and launched the “Hanga Higa”
initiative, aimed at supporting musically gifted children. He also played a key
role in the rise of singer Nsengiyumva François, popularly known as “Igisupusupu,”
to national fame.
In 2021,
Alain Muku was officially sworn in as a lawyer in the Rwanda Bar Association,
after returning to the country from Europe. He stated that the legal knowledge
and experience he gained during his time as a prosecutor would help him in his
new role as a lawyer.
In July 2021,
he was appointed as the Deputy Spokesperson of the Government of Rwanda, tasked
with assisting in the communication and explanation of government policies.
Alain
Mukuralinda married Martine Gatabazi in 2006.
Alain Mukuralinda passed away at King Faisal Hospital, reportedly due to a heart attack.
