The battle for the Rwanda Premier League title intensified as APR FC secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Vision FC on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Kigali Pele Stadium.
With this win, APR FC now sits just one point behind league leaders
Rayon Sports, keeping the championship race wide open.
APR FC hosted Vision FC in the 22nd round of the Rwanda Premier League
2024-25 season. The home side was determined to claim all three points to close
the gap on Rayon Sports, and they did just that with a hard-fought victory.
APR FC took an early lead in the 19th minute when Cheik Djibril
Ouattara converted a penalty after Mahamadou Lamine Bah was fouled inside the
box by Irambona Patrick. The goal ignited celebrations among the APR FC
faithful, who knew a win would keep their title hopes alive.
However, just before halftime, Vision FC responded with a stunning
equalizer. In the 45+2 minute, Cyubahiro Idarusi dribbled past Ruboneka Jean
Bosco before firing the ball into the net, bringing the game level at 1-1 as
the teams headed into the break.
The second half saw APR FC pushing relentlessly for the winning goal.
The pressure paid off in the 85th minute when Mamadou Sy capitalized on a loose
ball inside the penalty area to slot home the decisive goal. The stadium
erupted in celebration as APR FC secured a vital victory.
Vision FC fought hard to find another equalizer, with Zabio Pascal and Nzotanga
testing the APR FC defense, but
goalkeeper Ishimwe Pierre remained resolute.
With this result, APR FC now has 45 points, trailing Rayon Sports by
just one point in the league standings. As the title race heats up, APR FC will
be aiming to maintain their winning momentum in the upcoming matches.
