SKOL Brewery Ltd. (SBL), a renowned beverage company in Rwanda, celebrated its 15th anniversary, marking its significant contributions to economic development, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment.
During a ceremony held at the company’s
headquarters in Kigali, Eric Gilson, the Managing Director of SKOL Brewery
Ltd., expressed gratitude to the Government of Rwanda for fostering a
business-friendly environment that enabled the company’s success.
He stated: "Over the past 15 years, we have built our journey on
integrity, quality, and innovation. This progress would not have been possible
without the support of the government, our business partners, financial
institutions, and our dedicated employees. We remain committed to contributing
to the country’s development and enhancing the well-being of Rwandans."
Since its establishment in 2009, SKOL Brewery Ltd.
has achieved remarkable milestones, introducing popular beverages such as SKOL
Malt, SKOL Lager, Virunga Beer, Panache, Maltona, and Gatanu, alongside Virunga
Water—the first reusable bottled water brand in Rwanda.
Today, the company employs over 570 people, both
directly and indirectly, while supporting thousands more through its
distribution network.
Beyond business expansion, SKOL Brewery Ltd.
prioritizes sustainability. The company installed a wastewater treatment plant
that produces biogas and recycles water, reducing its environmental footprint.
In partnership with TotalEnergies, SKOL
transitioned to using LPG gas for its boilers, cutting down on charcoal and
fossil fuel consumption. Additionally, in 2024, the company collaborated with
Rayon Sports Women for the "One Shot, One Tree" campaign, planting 50
trees for every goal scored by the team during the national league.
To promote community well-being, SKOL has supported
various projects, including constructing the SKOL Football Pitch in Nzove,
building a basketball court at UTAB University, and sponsoring cycling and
football athletes, particularly the youth.
During the anniversary celebration, guests toured
SKOL’s state-of-the-art facilities, witnessing the company's impressive
practices in environmental protection, innovation, and national development.
Thibault Relecom, one of the company’s investors,
highlighted that the 15-year journey symbolizes resilience, collaboration, and
a vision for a brighter future.
He remarked: "Our success is built on innovation and community engagement.
We encourage everyone to continue partnering with us as we strive for greater
progress and sustainable development."
SKOL Brewery Ltd. reaffirmed its commitment to
remaining a key partner in Rwanda's development journey, ensuring its
operations continue to benefit the community, protect the environment, and boost
the country’s economy.
