Rwandan singer Rusanganwa Norbert, popularly known as Kenny Sol, has officially released his highly anticipated single "Phenomena" on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. This track marks his musical comeback after hinting at a series of projects he plans to unveil throughout the year.
The "Phenomena" music video, produced by longtime collaborator Fayzo Pro, features creative visuals captured both in Rwanda and Canada during Kenny Sol's tour.
The audio
production was handled by renowned producer Element. Kenny Sol revealed that he
named the song after his Canadian tour to build excitement among his fans.
"I wanted my fans to be prepared, so I chose to name the tour and the
song Phenomena," he told InyaRwanda.
However, the video
production faced challenges when footage shot in Kimihurura, Kigali, went
missing. Fayzo Pro explained, "We had visuals from Kimihurura that were
meant for this video, but we lost them and couldn’t recover them at
first." Kenny Sol later sought help from Egyptian tech experts formerly
based in Rwanda, who successfully restored the lost footage using advanced
software.
Despite recovering the
footage, the team decided to film additional scenes in Canada for a fresher
visual experience. "Kimihurura is a popular shooting location, so we opted
for more unique visuals from Canada," Fayzo shared.
Kenny Sol disclosed that
the production of "Phenomena" was a major
investment, costing between 10 and 15 million Rwandan Francs. This reflects the
quality and effort put into the project.
Born in 1997 and the
youngest of three siblings, Kenny Sol initially pursued a career in football,
playing for youth teams like Esprance in 2015 and Kiyovu FC in 2016. His
unexpected shift to music has now positioned him as one of Rwanda's rising
stars, and "Phenomena" further cements his growing
influence in the industry.
