Miss Nishimwe Naomie, crowned Miss Rwanda 2020, has legally wed her fiancé, Michael Tesfay, in a private ceremony on December 27, 2024. This legal union comes just two days before their planned religious wedding, which will take place on December 29, 2024.
The couple, who have been in a public relationship for some time, made the civil commitment in a highly secretive ceremony. Their upcoming wedding celebrations will take place at Intare Arena in Rusororo, where the official engagement and marriage rites will be held.
The religious ceremony will follow at the Noble Family Church in Kimihurura, with a reception later at the Intare Conference Arena.
Miss Naomie and Michael's relationship gained attention after Michael proposed to her in a surprise engagement on January 1, 2024, at a special dinner in Kigali. She expressed her excitement about the proposal, describing it as a moment she would never forget.
Naomie shared with Radio Rwanda that she was eager for the proposal and had expected it to happen around Christmas 2023. She praised Michael for his respect, faith in God, and love for her.
The couple has been preparing for their wedding throughout the year, with Naomie also mentioning that they are considering their future plans, including potentially living abroad after marriage.
Naomie who owns a fashion boutique, has found new opportunities since winning the Miss Rwanda title, including collaborations and business ventures.
