Massamba Intore, the renowned Rwandan artist, is set to perform in Milan, Italy, on December 28, 2024, in a special concert aimed at helping Rwandans and other residents in the country celebrate the end of 2024 and usher in the new year. The concert will also serve as a fundraiser to support various Diaspora initiatives in Italy.
This event is significant for Massamba as it marks one of the few international performances he will hold this year, following his milestone "3040 y’Ubutore" concert in Rwanda. The concert, organized by Stephanie and the Italian-based Rwandan cultural group "Imararungu," will also feature performances from the local choir, with all proceeds directed to a fund supporting Rwandan Diaspora activities.
Stephanie, one of the event organizers, shared that Massamba was invited not only for his musical talents but also due to his strong connection with the community. “He is our friend, and his music resonates with many, making him the perfect artist to lead this event,” said Stephanie. He emphasized that the concert would be a vibrant occasion, encouraging the community to contribute to the fund that supports various Rwandan Diaspora projects.
Massamba's musical journey began at a young age. Raised in a family of musicians, he started performing and composing from the age of seven. By 13, he had written his first song, and after much development and guidance from his father, he became a key figure in Rwanda's music scene.
His early career saw him perform alongside the legendary Mutamuliza Annociata (Kamaliza), and his music became a symbol of patriotism, especially during the Rwandan liberation struggle.
Massamba's contributions extend beyond music. He was actively involved in supporting the RPA during the liberation war, using his concerts as platforms to raise funds and awareness. He later became a coach in the national Rwandan cultural troupe, Urukerereza, passing on his artistic knowledge to the next generation.
The concert in Milan is expected to be a memorable event, celebrating Massamba’s legacy while helping to further support the vibrant Rwandan community in Italy.
