The “Twaje Festival", held on October 26, 2024, at the BK Arena, left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of Yvan Buravan’s fans and music lovers alike.
A celebration of
Buravan's life, the event was the culmination of two months of preparation,
carefully organized to bring his dreams to life. Over 15 Rwandan artists,
including popular rapper Ish Kevin, gathered to honor Buravan, marking the
festival’s debut and setting the stage for what YB Foundation plans as an
annual event.
The concert ran for two hours and showcased a harmonious blend of artists sharing the stage and performing duets that reflected Buravan's life story.
According to inside
sources from InyaRwanda, organizing this event cost over 70 million Rwandan
francs. The venue alone required a payment of 27 million Rwf, with additional
expenses going towards state-of-the-art sound and lighting from Rwanda Events.
The festival's lineup included standout performances by Ruti Joel, Jules Sentore, Mani Martin, Alyn Sano, and others, each interpreting Buravan’s music and spirit in their own unique way.
Jules Sentore captivated the crowd with renditions of “Urabaruta
bose” and “Ni Rwogere,” while Alyn Sano joined Mani Martin for a heartfelt duet
of Buravan’s "Babiri." Andy Bumuntu’s emotional performance of
“Bwiza” and “On Fire” resonated deeply with the audience.
Fans were treated to Ish
Kevin’s energetic collaboration with Ariel Wayz on “VIP,” and DJ Marnaud paired
with Ruti Joel to perform “Impore” alongside Massamba Intore. Later, Nel Ngabo
and Ariel Wayz delivered a passionate rendition of “Big Time,” from Buravan’s
album 'Twaje', an emotional highlight of the night.
In the final segments,
songs such as “Gusakara” by Juno Kizigenza and the anthemic “Nitwe ejo hazaza,”
performed by Alyn Sano and other artists, filled the arena. The night concluded
with Buravan’s beloved tracks “Cyane,” “Keza,” and “I Love You Too,” leaving
fans with lasting memories of his extraordinary impact.
“Twaje” is set to become
a lasting tribute, aiming to preserve Buravan’s legacy and unite fans each year
in a celebration of his life and music.
