Rwanda is preparing for the “Rwanda Shima Imana” event on September 29, 2024, where thousands will gather at Amahoro Stadium to give thanks for the country’s transformation over the past 30 years. Ambassador Dr. Charles Murigande, the event's coordinator, highlighted how far the nation has come since the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
During a press briefing,
Amb. Dr. Murigande recalled that in 1995, Rwanda had fewer than 10,000 phones,
but today, nearly every Rwandan owns one. He emphasized that the rapid
technological and infrastructure advancements are among the countless reasons
Rwandans have to be grateful to God.
The “Rwanda Shima Imana”
event will feature renowned gospel artists and speakers, celebrating Rwanda's
journey from devastation to stability and growth. Amb. Dr. Murigande also noted
Rwanda’s current international leadership roles, marking a significant shift in
the nation's global image.
From near-total collapse
to leading international organizations, Rwanda's recovery is a testament to
resilience. As the country gathers to reflect, the event will highlight the
remarkable progress that has been made and the importance of continuing to give
thanks.
