Students of the Communauté des Étudiants Pentecôtistes à l'Université de Kigali (CEP – UoK) have emphasized the need for evangelism to go beyond words and be put into action.

This was highlighted after their recent outreach mission in Rugarika Sector, Kamonyi District, where they provided support to vulnerable individuals in an area known as "Paris." The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the University of Kigali and Seka Ministry.

The day’s activities aimed at both spiritual and physical well-being, beginning with a football match between CEP University of Kigali FC and SEKA FC from SEKA Ministry. The match ended in a( 1-1) draw and was attended by a large crowd of residents.

Following the match, CEP – UoK youth engaged in evangelism, sharing the Word of God with the community. The event was filled with joy, as attendees worshiped through music and dance right on the field. More than 15 people accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Teaching Sessions

To further support the community, group discussions were held on various topics:

Women and girls were encouraged to recognize their potential in nation-building, embrace self-awareness, and uphold Christian values. This session was led by Dr. Elizabeth Owino.

Men and young boys were warned about the consequences of sinful behavior and urged to live purposeful lives guided by Christian principles. Children were also given lessons tailored to their age.

Material Support

Beyond spiritual teachings, the students extended tangible help to the needy by donating:

Clothing and children's toys worth 400,000 RWF

Six pigs for community members, valued at 220,000 RWF

Food supplies for those who attended

A beneficiary, Bayisenge Bernadette, expressed deep gratitude, saying: "I’m overwhelmed with joy! These young people have truly blessed us. This pig will help lift me out of poverty and provide manure for my crops."

Leadership Remarks

Alimence Dushime, President of CEP – UoK, emphasized that their fellowship is built on "evangelism in action." He stated:

"As we go out to preach, we aim not only to share words of encouragement but also to address real challenges faced by the people. These livestock donations will enable the beneficiaries to improve their livelihoods, especially through a chain of giving, where they will pass on piglets to others."

Madame Nyiramana Cécile, the local leader representing the Executive Secretary of Rugarika Sector, commended the students for their dedication. She remarked:

"It is remarkable to see young people using their time, energy, and resources to help the community. This is an example to be followed."

The event concluded with a fellowship gathering, where participants shared meals and drinks. Penuel Choir from CEP – UoK led a powerful session of worship and praise.

The entire outreach program, organized in collaboration with the University of Kigali, cost 1,161,050 RWF.

The evangelism mission left a lasting impact on the people of Rugarika, Kamonyi District, especially in the area known as Paris, bringing them joy, hope, and practical support.

Future Plans of CEP UoK

Looking ahead, CEP UoK is committed to continuing its outreach efforts, contributing to the social well-being of both Rwandans and internationals living in Rwanda wherever possible. We also plan to organize on-campus seminars on various important topics to educate and empower students.

Additionally, we dream of expressing our love for Christ by hosting a large inter-university gospel concert at one of Rwanda’s major event venues, such as Camp Kigali or BK Arena.
