On June 25, 2024, new-generation artists Mugisha Benjamin (The Ben), Yvan Muziki, and Ingabire Deborah, known as Marina, released a modern rendition of the classic song “Intsinzi” originally by the legendary Mariya Yohana. This release coincides with the campaign kickoff of presidential candidate Paul Kagame, which began on June 22, 2024.

Yvan Muziki explained to InyaRwanda that the decision to revamp this iconic song was to express their confidence in Paul Kagame's victory in the upcoming presidential elections. He stated, "This song holds significant meaning as it originally celebrated the victory of RPA forces in liberating Rwanda. We reinterpreted it to signify our confidence in our candidate's victory in the presidential race."

The new version of “Intsinzi” includes new lyrics emphasizing the anticipated success of Paul Kagame in the upcoming elections on July 15, 2024. The music video, shot across various locations in Kigali and at the BK Arena, features Mariya Yohana herself, who joins the artists in singing the chorus and performs the third verse.

Mariya Yohana expressed her pride in the song, saying, “’Intsinzi’ has become a national anthem of sorts, requested everywhere I go.” Originally written in 1992, the song’s prophetic lyrics anticipated the victory of the RPA forces, and it has since become a staple in celebrating Rwanda's achievements and in various political campaigns, including those supporting Paul Kagame.

The audio for this new version was produced by Bob Pro, with the video directed by Ayo Merci and Dir Chid. Guitar accompaniment by Bolingo Paccy adds a fresh layer to this timeless classic.
