The basis for the resumption of the Miss Rwanda competition

The statistics showed that more than 19 million people watched the activities of Miss Rwanda, from the beginning, to the end and after the pageant.

Now, one year and one month later, the former Ministry of Youth and Culture [which became the Ministry of Youth] has announced that it has canceled the Miss Rwanda competition.

Since then, the Miss Rwanda pageant has not been held again, so Miss Nshuti Divine Muheto will hold the crown for two years.

There is still confusion as to whether this girl will represent Rwanda in Miss World which will be held in India, due to the fact that Rwanda Inspiration Back Up had the right to choose the girl who will represent Rwanda who was stopped from preparing Miss Rwanda.

There are reports that the Cultural Council, which is located in the Ministry of the Unity of Rwandans and the Civil Society (Minubumwe), is planning how Miss Nshuti Divine will go to India.

Chairman of the Cultural Assembly, Amb. Robert Masozera told TNT that it is not yet known when the tournament will resume.

He said that they have been helping Miss Rwanda 2022 [Nshuti Divine Muheto], the winner of Miss Talent [Amanda Saro] and the winner of Miss Innovation [Uwimana Jeannette] to work on their projects, as well as to pursue awards for 10 girls who have reached the stage of later approved by various sponsors.

Regarding the fact that another company has been sought to organize the Miss Rwanda pageant, Amb. Masozera said they have not yet taken that step.

This director says that the recovery of Miss Rwanda, which has paved the way for many girls in Rwanda, will be based on her character and the lessons she left behind.

He says, "The problems that happened in the beauty pageant in 2022, which included those in charge of organizing the pageant and its officials, damaged the image of Miss Rwanda, so the decision that the pageant should be held again, all that will be considered, considering the lesson left."

He says that the decision regarding the return of Miss Rwanda will be announced to Rwandans. 

Miss Rwanda is considered to be the number one most talked about entertainment event in Rwanda, more than anything else every year. It provided jobs and opened doors for some of the girls who came through.

In 2009, it was organized for the first time by the Ministry of Culture and Sports [as it was called at that time], and again in 2012, the government is organizing it in collaboration with the private sector.

Since 2014, Dieudonné Ishimwe [Prince Kid]'s Rwanda Inspiration Back Up was the one he was organizing, until it was canceled on May 9, 2023 due to complaints from some of the girls who said they were abused.
