FESPACO, one of Africa’s greatest cultural festivals was launched on 23rd February 2019. This festival gathered many African stars and Mani Martin was awarded for best costume.
The second day of this festival was full ofdances and plays. “The Mercy of
the jungle", a film by a Rwandan filmmaker Joel Karekezi was screened and caught
people's attention at the festival.This movie was competing with other movies
like "Icyasha" by Dusabejambo Clementine, and “Inanga" (Inanga,
guardians of tradition) by Jean Claude Uwiringiyimana.
Many people were visiting Rwanda stands, curious to learn about many things about Rwanda
Rwanda was also represented by Urukerereza, a traditional Rwandan troupe
which pleased audience with its dances and songs. Masamba Intore and Miss
Shanel were also there. Dr Vuningoma James who was on behalf of the Rwandan government,
got the award of Rwanda’s participation in the festival.
This festival first happened in 1969. On this year’s official launch of FESPACO,
Rwanda presented its tourism sector and people were impressed and curious to
know more about Rwanda.
