KARONGI residents flocked the district stadium in large numbers to have a glimpse of their favourite artistes as the town hosted the Primus Guma Guma Super Star 5 (PGGSS5) road show on Saturday.

The muddy pitch as a result of heavy rains the previous day did not stop the enthusiastic fans from turning up in big numbers for the show which is sponsored by Bralirwa under their flagship beer Primus. For residents who had missed the previous year’s road show, the excitement as the show returned to the district was expected.

The show which coincided with the monthly community work, Umuganda kicked off late but still lived to the expectations of the fans. Paccy was the first to grace the stage, and the rapper proved that she has been working hard as she delivered Rendez-vous and Love ya Weekend, sending her fans into excitement.

Bruce Melodie who recently became a father was next. Dressed in a long zip tee-shirt and sneakers with a golden colour, he opened his performance with Ndakwanga and the charged crowd cheered and sang along.

Following immediately was Bulldogg and his protégé Khalifan, The pair clad in typical hip hop attire wowed the crowd with Nk’umusaza and Cinema. Ramathan Safari, a student at G.S de Bubaza who seemed to enjoy every move of Bulldog said Bulldogg’s songs touch his heart.

After grooving to the hard-core hip hop lyrics, the fans had to adjust to the smooth vocals of the next act, Jules Sentore who sang Umpe Akanya, Kora Akazi and Njera.

Clad in suits, Active raised the tempo of excitement when the boy group did their dance routine before the man of surprises (Senderi), clad in red from head to toe hit the stage. Senderi didn’t disappoint with his  Nta Cash and Jalousie.

The dreadlocked pair of Rafiki and back-up Bien Venu Sheema worked the fans as well with Bagambe and Gicomando.

Baramushaka singer Knowless also gave the fans what they needed with a lively performance starting with Wari Urihe and Sweet Mutima. One lucky fan got a hug from the beautiful songstress.

The last  perfomances of the day were from  the groups TNP and Dreamboys. TNP impressed with Kamurenge and Byina while dreams boys closed with their popular hits Urare AharyanaUzahahe Uronkeand Tujyane Iwacu

Naome Mugoyikazi, a Knowless fan praised the organisers for the show, and urged them to regularly bring the artistes to the countryside because they are role models in society. Samson Mpendo, the Primus Senior Brand Manager said the turn up was good and the artistes were now better in stage use and movement.
