The Women's Billiards Championship is set to return for its second edition, following its debut in November 2024.

Billiards is a globally recognized sport that has reached new heights internationally. However, in Rwanda, it is often perceived as a men's game, as it is mostly played in bars, which are predominantly male-dominated spaces.

To promote the sport among women, the tournament organizers decided to establish a women-only competition to encourage participation and development in this category.

The first edition took place in Kicukiro District on November 30, 2024, where all interested and skilled female players registered and competed.

The tournament followed a best-of-three format, where players had to win two out of three games to progress to the next stage.

During the first edition, the winner was awarded 200,000 RWF and a medal, while the runner-up received 100,000 RWF, and the third-place finisher took home 50,000 RWF.

For the second edition, prize money has been increased, with the champion set to receive 250,000 RWF, the runner-up 150,000 RWF, and the third-place finisher 100,000 RWF.

The upcoming tournament will once again be held in Kicukiro on March 29, 2025, and interested participants can register by paying a 5,000 RWF fee.

In the previous edition, Murekatete Edissa emerged as the champion, Uwase Isabella finished second, while Umukundwa Kellia secured third place.
