Lesotho's national football team coach, Leslie Notsi, has admitted that the upcoming match on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, will be a tough one when they face the Rwanda national team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Lesotho, also known as the
‘Crocodiles,’ lost to Rwanda 1-0 in a match on June 11, 2024, where Jojea Kwizera
scored the only goal that secured the victory for Amavubi. Currently, Lesotho
is preparing to avenge that defeat when they face Rwanda at Amahoro Stadium.
In a media interview, Notsi stated
that they are ready to face a strong team at a high level.
Leslie Notsi said, “Rwanda leads the
group and has performed well, defeating strong teams like South Africa and
Nigeria in the AFCON qualifiers. It’s clear that this will be a tough match for
us because we know it’s a big game. However, we are used to facing strong
teams, so we will do our best to try and secure a victory.”
In the 2026 World Cup qualifiers,
Rwanda currently sits in first place in Group C with seven points, while
Lesotho is in fourth place with five points.
The match will be held at Amahoro
Stadium, where Rwandans are expected to show their usual support for their
team, as Amavubi aims to continue asserting themselves as a strong force in
African football.
Amavubi is
set to face Lesotho in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
