Rayon Sports has advanced to the semi-finals of the 2025 Peace Cup after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Gorilla FC in the second leg of the quarter-finals.
On Thursday, March 6, 2025, Gorilla FC hosted Rayon Sports in the
return leg of the Peace Cup quarter-finals. With the first leg ending in a 2-2
draw, both teams entered the match eager to claim a spot in the semi-finals.
However, it was Rayon Sports that emerged victorious, thanks to a decisive goal
from Iraguha Hadji in the 49th minute.
The match began with both teams displaying attacking intent. Gorilla
FC’s Irakoze Darcy came close to opening the score in the 11th minute, but his
powerful shot struck the post. Rayon Sports responded with several attempts, with
Muhire Kevin and Bugingo Hakim creating dangerous chances. Despite their
efforts, the first half ended goalless.
The turning point came in the 49th minute when Rayon Sports forward
Biramahire Abeddy sent a cross into the box. After a deflection, Iraguha Hadji
capitalized on the opportunity, slotting the ball past Gorilla FC’s goalkeeper
Muhawenayo God.
As Gorilla FC pushed for an equalizer, Rayon Sports’ defense, led by
Omar Gning and Khadime Ndiaye, remained solid. Aziz Bassane and Adoulai Jalo
came close to doubling the lead for Rayon Sports, but Gorilla FC’s defense held
firm. The match concluded with Rayon Sports securing their place in the
semi-finals.
This win granted them a 3-2 aggregate triumph, setting up a clash with
Mukura Victory Sports, who eliminated Amagaju.
