Rayon Sports striker Fall Ngagne could be sidelined for nine months after sustaining a severe injury during the match against Amagaju FC.
The incident occurred on Saturday
evening during Matchday 18 of the Rwanda Premier League, where Amagaju FC
hosted Rayon Sports. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, with Fall Ngagne scoring the
lone goal for Rayon Sports.
In the final minutes of the match,
Ngagne suffered an injury after a collision with Amagaju FC goalkeeper Kambale
Kilo Dieume. He was immediately stretchered off the field for medical attention.
Reports now indicate that the
Senegalese forward could be out of action for up to nine months due to the
severity of the injury.
This comes as a significant blow to
Rayon Sports, as Ngagne has been instrumental in their attack, scoring 13 of
the club's 30 league goals this season. He currently leads the league's top
scorers' chart with 13 goals.
Adding to Rayon Sports' woes,
midfielder Muhire Kevin is also sidelined due to injury and was unavailable for
the Amagaju FC clash.
Despite these setbacks, Rayon Sports
remains at the top of the league table with 41 points, four ahead of
second-placed APR FC.
The team returns to action this
Wednesday as they host Gorilla FC in the first leg of the Peace Cup
quarterfinals.
