After defeating Musanze in the Peace Cup, APR FC coach Darko Nović was not satisfied with being asked why he does not field Richmond Lamptey, responding in a manner that seemed to suggest the player is not one to help the team.
In an interview with the media after
eliminating Musanze FC from the Peace Cup, Nović was asked why Lamptey was not
playing, to which he replied that he could not see how the foreign player
deserved a place on the field.
He said, “Why are you questioning
the players who played today instead of bringing up Lamptey? Let it go. I
haven’t used him for the past three months. We have many players, and some are
on the bench because not all of them make it to the starting lineup.”
He mentioned that APR FC has many
foreign players, and only six are allowed to play, with four substitutes. He
explained that the field already includes a goalkeeper, three forwards, and key
players like Taddeo Lwanga, Lamine Bah, and Ismael Nshimirimana, so he saw no
reason to play Lamptey in his current position.
“We have many foreign players, six
must start, and four can substitute. So leave it. In Lamptey’s position, we
have Taddeo Lwanga as a substitute, plus a goalkeeper, three forwards, Lamine
Bah, and Ismael Nshimirimana must be present. Tell me now, how could I play
someone like Lamptey?”
The APR FC coach hinted that Richmond Lamptey has no place to play in the APR FC team.
