New gospel artist Sylvie Simbi, known for her soulful music and rich multicultural background, unveiled her latest track, This Is Love, on Valentine’s Day. In an exclusive interview with Inyarwanda, she discusses her journey, latest release, and future aspirations.
Singer and songwriter Sylvie Simbi, has released her new single track, ‘This Is Love’. The release aligns with her vision of creating music that transcends generations and cultures, offering hope and light to those navigating life’s challenges.
Sylvie’s first gospel single ‘I Worship Only You’, marked a
significant step in her musical journey, emphasizing intimate worship and deep
devotion. Her new single, This Is Love, takes a different approach, blending
vibrant, rhythmic sounds with a celebratory message about God’s unconditional
love.
In describing the inspiration behind the song, Sylvie
shared that it is rooted in 1 John 4:10. “True love is not that we loved God,
but that He loved us first and gave His life to redeem humanity from sin,” she
explained. She aims to remind listeners that God’s love is present, real, and
accessible to all, lifting spirits and providing strength in every season of
life.
“I started with the lyrics, and as I reflected on the
words, the melody naturally followed,” Sylvie said while discussing about
creative process and her new released song ‘This is love’.
She stated some challenges during creation of this song.
“One of the biggest challenges of being an independent artist is that, without
the backing of a major label, I’ve had to finance everything on my own—which
hasn’t been easy. While songwriting and singing come naturally and at no cost
because I do it myself, other aspects like promotion require significant
investment. Yes, the gospel is free, but taking it worldwide requires
substantial resources.”
She continued “I trust that as God has led me on this
journey, He will also bring the right people to support and collaborate along
the way. If my music speaks to you and you feel inspired to be part of this
vision, I warmly welcome your support. You can reach me on Instagram at
@sylviesimbi or by email at thegodkindgroup@gmail.com. Together, we can
continue to spread the goodnews through music.”
Sylvie chose to release the song on Valentine’s Day to
offer a deeper perspective on love. “While Valentine’s Day focuses on romantic
love, I wanted to use this day to remind people of the greatest love of all,
God’s unwavering love,” she said.
Apart of this new song and other songs she’s planning to do
in future, Sylvie has a dream to perform in Kigali her motherland city. “It
would be a homecoming and a celebration of where I come from,” she added.
