As is customary every Monday, Game Changers, a program on InyaRwanda TV, highlights the latest football news from Rwanda and across the globe. The show is hosted by Ishimwe Walter and Byiringiro Gasana Nerva.
This Monday’s show covered various topics,
including the ongoing transfer activities of APR FC and Rayon Sports, Arsenal's
early struggles in the Premier League title race, and Manchester United's continued
poor form.
The program focused on APR FC’s recent
signings from Uganda, including Hakim Kiwanuka and Denis Omedi. These players
have been brought in to strengthen the team as it fights to reclaim the
championship, with APR FC finishing the first half of the season in second
place behind Rayon Sports.
Additionally, the panel discussed the signing
of striker Djibril Ouattara, who is expected to make a significant impact. This
comes after APR FC’s previous forwards, Mamadou Sy and Victor Mbaoma, failed to
deliver, forcing the club to rely on Arsene Tuyisenge, who naturally plays as a
winger, to fill the role of a central striker.
There was also debate about APR FC’s style of
play, which has been criticized as unattractive despite the team securing
results. The panel suggested that APR FC’s coach should consider a tactical
overhaul to better utilize the players in their respective positions.
Even though APR FC has strengthened its squad
with Kiwanuka, Omedi, and Ouattara, the panel noted that this does not
necessarily make them unbeatable, as the club also made high-profile signings
during the summer transfer window without dominating the league.
The discussion then shifted to Rayon Sports, which finished the first half of the league in the top spot. Despite this, the club has yet to secure any new signings during the current transfer window.
Several players have been linked to the club, including Joseph Sackey of Muhazi
United, Aaron Banega from Nyasa Big Bullets, Brighit Anukani, and Fahad Aziz
Bayo. However, negotiations are reportedly ongoing for some, while others have
fallen through.
The show also touched on European football, where Manchester United’s poor performances remain a concern. Meanwhile, Arsenal’s draw against Aston Villa has cast doubt on their title ambitions, while Manchester City appears to have regained its dominant form.
