Rwandan artists Davis D and Platini P teamed up for the first time on their new single “Jeje,” with the music video costing over 10 million Rwandan Francs and providing jobs for more than 100 people in the local music industry.
This collaboration comes
as Davis D prepares for his 10-year anniversary concert, “Shine Boy Fest,” set
for November 30, 2024, at Camp Kigali.
The release of “Jeje” is
also significant for Platini P, fresh off his successful “Baba Experience”
concert in March 2024, where thousands urged him to make it an annual event.
The video for "Jeje" took two months to complete, with both audio and
visuals finalized in that time.
Davis D revealed that the
production involved a large team, including dancers, models, producers, and
construction workers. Though Platini P covered most of the costs, Davis D
shared that the video’s total expenses exceeded 10 million Rwandan Francs.
The music video was
filmed in multiple locations, including a custom-built set that created a
unique cityscape for the visuals. Davis D explained, "We built everything
seen in the video, from the set where Platini sings to my final scene. We
essentially created a new city."
The friendship between Davis D and Platini P played a key role in bringing the project to life, taking two months from concept to completion.
