The Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) has announced the national exam results for the 2023/2024 academic year, revealing a strong performance by students across Rwanda. Notably, girls outshined boys in the primary school exams, while boys excelled in the lower secondary exams.
According to the results
released on August 27, 2024, at the Rwanda Education Board (REB) headquarters,
202,021 primary school students took the exams, with girls achieving a pass
rate of 97% compared to boys' 96.6%. Key subjects such as science and
Kinyarwanda saw high performance, but improvements are needed in math and
English.
In lower secondary
education, the pass rate was 93.8%, with boys scoring 95.8% and girls 92%.
Minister of Education Gaspard Twagirayezu commended the overall performance but
emphasized the need for enhanced focus on subjects like physics, chemistry, and
biology.
Top performers in both
categories were rewarded with laptops and a year's worth of school supplies,
reflecting MINEDUC's commitment to supporting academic excellence.
