On Monday, August 19, 2024, President Paul Kagame presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed members of the government, including Dr. Doris Uwicyeza Picard, the new Director General of the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB). The event took place at the Parliamentary Building in Kimihurura.
A total of 21 Ministers,
9 State Ministers, and the RGB Director General took their oaths of office. Dr.
Uwicyeza Picard was confirmed by the Senate, which found her highly qualified
and experienced for her new role. She is expected to bring strong leadership to
the RGB.
The new Ministers include
fresh faces like Richard Nyirishema, Minister of Sports; Prudence Sebahizi,
Minister of Trade and Industry; and Christine Nkulikiyinka, Minister of Public
Service and Labor.
State Ministers also took
their oaths, including General (Rtd) James Kabarebe, State Minister for Foreign
Affairs and Regional Cooperation, and Sandrine Umutoni, State Minister for
Youth and Culture. With this new team, the government is set to continue its
work on national development and governance.
