On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, Dr. Edouard Ngirente was sworn in as Prime Minister of Rwanda in a ceremony held at the Parliamentary Building in Kimihurura. The event, led by President Paul Kagame, was attended by various dignitaries, including foreign diplomats and representatives of international organizations in Rwanda.
During his oath, Prime
Minister Ngirente vowed to uphold the Constitution and laws of Rwanda, to
promote unity among Rwandans, and to execute his duties with integrity and
dedication. "I pledge to work diligently and not to misuse the powers
entrusted to me for personal gain," he affirmed.
Dr. Ngirente, who has
held the Prime Minister position since 2017, was reappointed by President
Kagame. Upon his reappointment, he expressed his gratitude to the President,
stating, "I am deeply honored by the trust you have placed in me once
again. I commit to continuing our work to advance Rwanda's development."
As stipulated in Article
118 of the Rwandan Constitution, the Prime Minister, along with other
government officials, must take an oath of office before assuming their duties.
