Rwandan presidential candidate Paul Kagame, representing the RPF-Inkotanyi, cast his vote in Gasabo District, Kigali City.
At around 1 PM on Monday,
July 15, 2024, Kagame and his wife, Jeannette Kagame, arrived at the Kagugu
polling station. Upon arrival, they greeted those present and joined the queue
like other voters. When it was their turn, Kagame presented his ID and followed
the voting procedure.
Earlier in the day,
Kagame's two sons, Ivan Cyomoro Kagame and Captain Ian Kagame, also cast their
votes at Kagugu, along with his daughter, Ange Ingabire Kagame, who was
accompanied by her husband.
Voting is scheduled to
conclude at 3 PM, after which vote counting will begin for the presidential and
parliamentary candidates. Special elections for representatives of women,
youth, and persons with disabilities will be held on July 16, 2024.
Preliminary election
results are expected to be announced tonight, with a voter turnout anticipated
to exceed 60-70%. The final official results for both the presidential and
parliamentary elections will be declared on July 27, 2024.
