Rwandan artists Ben Kayiranga, Angel & Pamella, Jules Sentore, Ben Ngabo and Twahirwa Herve put an end to the performances built on the Poetry Council that was held for four days in Paris, France.
It was in a
show called 'Gakondo Concert’ that took place on the night of this Sunday, June
11, 2023, which brought together leaders from different sectors: Musicians,
poets, people involved in the development of the Cultural Industry and others.
These
performances were based on the Conference of Poets from different African
countries called 'Recontres Nyirarumaga des Litteratures Africaines.’ It was
attended by the Ambassador of Rwanda to France, François Nkulikiyimfura, the
Director of Culture in the Ministry of Rwandan Unity and Civil Engagement
(MINUBUMWE), Aimable Twahirwa and others.
Angel and
Pamella, who sang in this show, told InyaRwanda that they paid a lot of
attention to singing songs that 'praise Rwanda’; they sang using their voices
very much (live performance).
This is the first time the band has performed on the European continent. They praised the government agencies that supported them 'to make our dreams come true.'
Ben Kayiranga, who is one of the singers in this show, also told InyaRwanda, that he watched the audience who attended this poetry conference and paid a lot of attention to his popular songs.
He said that he sang the song 'Freedom' which became the epitome of his music, 'Ntunsige, Let's invest even in Isekere. He also sang the song 'That child is peace' by Théophile Rubayita.
The show was preceded by the launch of the African Poets Forum. Rumaga, who is one of the founders of this forum, told InyaRwanda that this forum will work in Europe.
He said, “With the accommodation, we also officially launched the African writers' association working in Europe called 'Nyirarumaga des Literatures Africaines.’
The poet, who is known for his poems including 'A woman is not a person', says that after performing in France, he is going to continue his tour in Belgium, where he will continue his concert tour.
He continues, "These are performances organized by people living here in Paris and Brussels, where I am going to finish, and they invited me. In this poetry conference, Rumaga participated in activities including 'Théâtre de la ville night' and 'Paris Evening.’
