The National Electoral Commission (NEC) announced preliminary results for the Presidential and Parliamentary elections on Thursday, July 18, 2024. President Paul Kagame achieved a resounding victory, securing 99.18% of the vote, with 8,822,794 votes. His competitors, Frank Habineza and Philippe Mpayimana, received 0.50% and 0.32% of the vote.
In the parliamentary
elections, the FPR-Inkotanyi party and its allies won 68.83% of the seats.
Other parties, including PL, PSD, DGPR-Green Party, PDI, PS Imberakuri, and
independent candidate Nsengiyumva Janvier, garnered varying percentages ranging
from 0.21% to 8.66%.
