Rayon Sports has welcomed Malian midfielder Souleymane Daffe, who has assured fans that he will bring them joy.
The player landed at Kanombe International
Airport in the early hours of Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Souleymane Daffe, who primarily plays as a
defensive midfielder but can also operate as a center-back, expressed that he
chose Rayon Sports because of its reputation as a big club and the positive
discussions he had with the club’s management.
He stated: "Rayon Sports is a big club. I observed how it operates, its
structure, and everything about it, which gave me the motivation to be here.
Additionally, the management spoke to me in a way that convinced me to
join."
He also mentioned that before joining Rayon
Sports, he did not consult with fellow Malian players who had previously played
for the club, such as Omar Sidibe, Diarra, and Adama Bagayogo, who is still
part of the team.
Sending a message to the fans, he promised to
give his best to make them happy: "I know they expect a lot from me, but I want to assure them that I am
here for a good reason – to play and please the fans. I will do everything
possible to make them happy, and I am confident about it."
The midfielder praised Kigali, describing it
as a beautiful city compared to Bamako, Mali’s capital. He also affirmed his
readiness to play in Rayon Sports’ upcoming weekend match, which is the main
reason he came.
Souleymane Daffe signed a one-and-a-half-year
contract with Rayon Sports. Before joining the club, he played for Provenance
de Salitas in Burkina Faso and AS Real de Bamako in Mali.
In January, Rayon Sports signed four new
players, including Cameroonian midfielder Assana Nah Innocent, who has been
training with the team for a while, Rwandan striker Biramahire Abeddy,
Guinea-Bissau’s Adulai Jaló, and Souleymane Daffe, who was the last to arrive.
Rayon Sports will kick off the second leg of the league season on Sunday as they host Musanze FC at Kigali Pelé Stadium.
