APR FC Clinches 2025 Heroes Cup After Dramatic Penalty Shootout Victory Over Police FC

APR FC has emerged as the 2025 Heroes Cup champions after a thrilling final against Police FC, securing victory through a penalty shootout with a 4-2 win. The match, held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, was a tightly contested affair that ended in a goalless draw after regular and extra time.

The highly anticipated final saw both teams putting up a strong defensive display, preventing any goals from being scored in the regular 90 minutes. Even after an additional 30 minutes of extra time, neither side managed to break the deadlock, leading to the decisive penalty shootout.

APR FC showcased composure and precision during the shootout, converting four of their penalties, while Police FC only managed to score twice. The decisive moments included Ruboneka Jean Bosco’s well-placed shot and crucial saves by APR FC’s goalkeeper Pavelh Ndzila, who denied attempts from Ishimwe Christian and Ani Elijah, securing the victory for his team.

Following their triumph, APR FC players were awarded gold medals, the prestigious Heroees Cup trophy, and a cash prize of 6 million RWF. Police FC, as the runners-up, received silver medals and a 3 million RWF cash prize.

In the women’s category, Rayon Sports WFC claimed the Heroes Cup, also earning 6 million RWF, while Indahangarwa WFC secured second place, taking home 3 million RWF.

This victory held extra significance for APR FC as they avenged their defeat from the previous year when Police FC had beaten them to claim the title. The match was a testament to the determination and resilience of APR FC, proving their dominance in Rwandan football once again.

With this victory, APR FC adds another prestigious trophy to their cabinet, reinforcing their status as one of Rwanda’s football powerhouses. Fans will now turn their attention to how the team will carry this momentum into upcoming competitions.
