Four Rwandan artists have earned nominations for the annual Magic Vibe Awards in Tanzania, a prestigious event aimed at celebrating artistic excellence and promoting the country's tourism industry. This marks yet another recognition of Rwanda's growing influence in the East African music scene.
Among the nominees is gospel artist Israel Mbonyi, who is contending for the "Best East Africa Gospel/Inspiration of the Year" award. He faces stiff competition from artists such as Joel Lwaga, Paul Clement, and Kenya’s Guardian Angel.
Speaking about the nomination, Mbonyi expressed gratitude,
saying, "It’s an honor to represent Rwanda on this platform and
showcase the power of gospel music."
Kevin Kade and producer-turned-artist Element Eleeh have been nominated in the "Best East Africa R&B/Pop Artist of the Year" category, competing against heavyweights like Jux, Rayvanny, and Mbosso.
Meanwhile, Bruce Melodie’s
collaboration with Nadia Mukami on the song ‘Kipepo’ earned a
spot in the "Best East African Music of the Year" category, going
head-to-head with hits from artists like Diamond Platnumz and Zuchu.
The
Magic Vibe Awards, set to take place on December 15, 2024, at the Superdome
Masaki in Dar es Salaam, include a wide array of categories such as "Best
East African Album of the Year" and "Best East African Live Act of
the Year." This year’s ceremony is expected to draw an audience of music
enthusiasts and industry professionals.
The
nomination list, announced on November 26, highlights the region’s diverse
talent and the award’s commitment to fostering cultural and artistic
development. Fans are encouraged to vote for their favorite artists online,
adding to the excitement as the countdown begins for the big night.
