Rwandan media personality Sengabo Jean Bosco, known as "Fatakumavuta," shared insights into a prolonged dispute with Alex Muyoboke dating back to 2017. He recalled that Safi Madiba once attempted to mediate between them, only for the peace efforts to collapse unexpectedly due to comments from David Bayingana.
Fatakumavuta discussed
the events on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, during a hearing at the Kicukiro
Primary Court, where he was defending himself against allegations of drug use
and cyber harassment.
Fatakumavuta recounted his work as a radio host in 2017 at Contact FM, where he frequently covered stories on local artists. At the time, Muyoboke was managing the Rwandan music duo Charly and Nina.
After an underwhelming concert they hosted in Nyamata,
Fatakumavuta commented in a report that, while the duo was talented, the event
seemed more focused on socializing than performance quality. Muyoboke
reportedly became furious over the remarks, even approaching Contact FM’s
program manager, Gakwandi Dickson, to address his grievances.
Efforts to reconcile came from Safi Madiba, who arranged a meeting between Fatakumavuta and Muyoboke at Sun City in Remera. Fatakumavuta recalls that, as discussions were underway, David Bayingana arrived and adamantly advised Muyoboke against reconciliation.
This escalated tensions, leading to an argument where Bayingana allegedly
shattered a glass in anger. Fatakumavuta stated, “I was deeply hurt by his
words and reacted emotionally, but Safi Madiba stepped in to defuse the
situation.”
In early 2024, Fatakumavuta joined Isibo FM and again sought a reconciliation. With the help of colleagues Christian Abayisenga and Jado Kabanda, they held a radio discussion aimed at resolving the feud, which concluded amicably.
Muyoboke
reportedly cited Fatakumavuta’s 2015 report on his personal life as a source of
resentment. Fatakumavuta responded, “He blames me for things said before I even
joined the media, things I had no part in.”
Fatakumavuta expressed
frustration, noting that despite multiple reconciliation attempts, misunderstandings
persisted. He concluded, “Every effort to mend fences was in good faith, yet
Muyoboke later resorted to filing a complaint against me.”
