Rwandan artist and songwriter, Mugisha Benjamin, known as The Ben, has been in the U.S. for the past week preparing for his latest music projects, including the launch of his much-anticipated new album.
He shared that his time
in the U.S. is focused on organizing his concert set to take place on January
1, 2025, in Kigali’s BK Arena. "I've been here for a week, but I plan to
return next week," he told InyaRwanda.
This concert will mark
the debut of The Ben’s new album and stands out as a unique opportunity for
him, as he is personally financing the event. Unlike his past performances,
where he was often hired and compensated in advance, this concert will require
him to invest directly, relying on ticket sales and sponsorships to recoup his
expenses.
The Ben began teasing
this album back in 2021, recently releasing singles like “Plenty” and “Better.”
He expressed deep pride in the album, calling it a major milestone in his music
journey. “This album has a profound meaning for me,” he stated. “I hope it will
resonate with my fans, not only in Rwanda but across East Africa.”
Known for numerous
collaborations, The Ben has worked with over 38 artists, a notable feat among
Rwandan musicians. His impressive list includes hits with artists like Meddy,
Otile Brown, Diamond Platnumz, and Sheebah. For his upcoming concert, he hinted
that some of his past collaborators might join him on stage, promising an
unforgettable experience for fans.
As he gears up for the
January event, The Ben is committed to bringing together a remarkable lineup of
artists and delivering a memorable live performance. The concert will also
celebrate his first wedding anniversary, as he recently married Uwicyeza
Pamella, a former Miss Rwanda contestant.
