Popular Rwandan artist Bruce Melodie will not be performing at the upcoming "Silver Gala," an event organized by the Sherrie Silver Foundation to support underprivileged children in the arts.
Scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Kigali
Convention Center, the event aims to raise funds to help children develop their
talents in dancing, singing, art, and more.
Initially announced as a
performer, Bruce Melodie later informed the organizers he would be unavailable
due to a prior engagement. Sherrie Silver, the international dancer behind the
event, stated, "He informed us last minute that he won’t be available because
he has another performance on that day."
Bruce Melodie is set to
perform at the MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival in Gicumbi on the same day, a festival
sponsored by Bralirwa, featuring other artists like Kenny Sol, Bwiza, and Ruti
Joel. The overlapping schedule has forced Bruce Melodie to choose the festival
over the "Silver Gala."
Despite his absence, the "Silver Gala" promises to be a star-studded event. Attendees will enjoy music by DJ Toxxyk and DJ Sonia and a red carpet hosted by former Miss Rwanda Nishimwe Naomie.
The event, which will also feature comedian Nkusi
Arthur and journalist Makeda, is expected to bring together artists,
influencers, politicians, and more for an evening of entertainment and charity.
