Irakoze Jean Pierre, professionally known as Producer Kozze, revealed that working with artist Mugisha Benjamin, widely known as The Ben, had been a longstanding dream, citing their shared journey through music education as the catalyst for their collaboration.
The announcement came during an interview with InyaRwanda on the evening of Monday, May 15, 2024, following Irakoze's return from Kenya, where he received the 'Audio Producer of Excellence' award at the East Africa Arts Entertainment Awards 2024 (EAE A2024) held on Sunday, May 14, 2024.
Reflecting on his time in Kenya, Kozze expressed gratitude for the experiences gained and connections made, acknowledging the invaluable support of fellow artists and Country Records Studio, where he currently holds a coveted trophy, marking his first-place win in the 'Audio' category, two years after joining the studio.
"This trophy isn't just about me or Rwanda; it's about the global recognition of my efforts. It signifies my value as a producer and the culmination of years of dedication to my craft," remarked Kozze.
Kozze was joined by fellow producers Kiiiz, Ayoo Rush, Hunter, Kimambo, Ihaji, Made It, and Sound Boy, who attested to his unwavering commitment and exceptional talent. They praised his collaborative spirit and determination, citing his instrumental role in their mutual success.
"Securing this trophy ahead of artists like Rayvanny is a significant achievement for me. It's a testament to my hard work and dedication to my craft. I look forward to collaborating with many more artists and expanding my market," Kozze remarked.
Following his award win, Kozze is set to channel his newfound energy into producing groundbreaking music projects. He anticipates another triumph for Rwanda in the next award cycle.
The winning project, 'Ni Forever' by Mugisha Benjamin 'The Ben', showcased Kozze's collaborative efforts in refining the song's beat to perfection, ensuring its resonance with audiences. He hinted at future collaborations with The Ben, expressing eagerness to explore new musical frontiers together.
Their partnership dates back to 2019 when Kozze, then a student, first encountered The Ben, whom he regarded as a mentor. Since then, they've fostered a strong artistic bond, culminating in their latest collaboration.
Kozze remains grateful for the opportunity to work with The Ben, describing it as a dream come true. "Collaborating with The Ben has been like a dream, and I've shared my vision with him sincerely," he said.
Looking ahead, Kozze is poised to continue his musical journey, guided by his passion for creativity and driven by the success of his collaborative endeavors with The Ben.
