Rwanda's national team of basketball intensified training ahead of championships of International federation of basket ball association. Rwanda will be hosting African games of FIBA U16 from 28 July until 3rd August.
The tournament will be happening for the 7th time since it was started in Rwanda. Today, in the morning, the team was in intensive training, targeting to strengthen their winning spirit before the tournament kicks off. Head coach, Charles Mushumba, worked with Mugwaneza Claudette to advise the players on match tactics such as how to handle heavy pass and block unexpected scores.
Rwanda's Under 16 basketball team were in training on this Friday.
The tournament that will be played in Rwanda, will also join countries such as Mali, Rwanda, Egypt, Uganda, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola and Tanzania.
Mali previously won the cup. Two best team will directly get a ticket to enter African cup competitions of under 17, which will be played in 2020.

Desire Mugwiza, president of FERWAFA, said that Rwanda's agenda to empower and promote women has started to yield a good harvest and that women will continue to be encouraged to use their talents to build the country.

'' We used to host various youth's championships like competitions of boys who are under 18, but we never hosted African competitions of girls. This is a hallmark that we are achieving our goal of showing our sisters and daughters that they are as capable as our boys,'' said Mugwiza.
Rwanda and Uganda will be representing Zone 5 in African games of youth who are under 16.

Now that African games will be played in Rwanda for the first time, it is expected that Remera national stadium will be hosting the games, which are scheduled to start from midday every day.
It is also expected that four matches will be played consecutively per day. Charles Mushumba, head coach of Rwanda's national basket ball team, said that Rwanda should take this advantage to show the world that they are capable and market themselves on international level.
