On Wednesday 29th July 2015, Barbara Pierce Bush, the daughter of George W Bush, former president of the United States of America, visits the Kigali Genocide memorial site at Gisozi together with 140 other people from her organization called Global Health Corps.

Global Health Corps helps and works with people not above 30 years of age and have to be from those 6 countries. These people are given different tasks from the organization which they work on in a period of one year.

As a matter of fact, the 140 people who accompanied Barbara Pierce Bush at the memorial site came to be awarded after their great work and also came for their retreat. They said they learnt a lot from the history of Rwanda.

From an interview with a news reporter, this is what Barbara Pierce had to say, “We came here to honor those who lost their lives  and to get a lesson from it. We are so happy to understand how Rwanda got passed their bad history and moved on with a theme of not letting it happen again”.

The Global Health Corps after honoring and placing flowers on the tombs, they donated 1,500,000 Rwf to the memorial site in Kigali at Gisozi.
