The time is surfing for the start of the inaugural edition of 2nd artistic film festival Mashariki African Film Festival which is scheduled to take place in Capital City Kigali, Rwanda from March 8 through March 14.

What we have seen on the list of selected films is that Rwanda in this week is going to be a hub of internationally acclaimed films, such as Jayant Maru's THE ROUTE, a Ugandan production which has garnered many international awards, Sol de Carvalho's Impunidad Criminosas from Mozambique, Carole Kamya's IMANI from Uganda, DURBAN POISON from South Africa, John Kwezi's UMUTOMA from Rwanda, among others.

The opening night of the festival is scheduled at March 8, in Kigali Serena Hotel from 6 PM, and TAPIS ROUGE, a film by Kantarama Gahigiri, a Rwandan Female Filmmaker living in Switzeland is the opening night film. This opening of the festival by the film made by a female filmmaker coincides with The International Woman Day! Did the organizers know this?
