On Friday, November 15, 2024, the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) announced the final exam results for the 2023/2024 high school academic year. The event also celebrated the top-performing students nationwide, with Minister of Education Joseph Nsengimana in attendance.
The national exams for
graduating high school students were conducted from July 23 to August 2, 2024.
Out of the 91,713 students registered, 91,298 sat for the exams, achieving a
participation rate of 99.5%. Of these, 71,746 students passed, reflecting a
national pass rate of 78.6%. Male students accounted for 50.5% of the pass
rate, while females represented 49.5%.
Results were graded using
a letter system: students scoring between 80-100% received an A, 75-79%
received a B, and 70-74% a C. Grades D and E were awarded to those scoring
65-69% and 60-64%, respectively, while S represented scores between 50-59%.
Those who failed received an F, representing scores below 50%.
The exams covered 20
subjects for general education students, 46 subjects for vocational tracks
(including teacher training and healthcare studies), and 211 tests for
technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
Minister Nsengimana
congratulated the students, stating, "This milestone marks a new chapter
in the lives of our students, and it is a testament to their resilience and
dedication. We are proud of the achievements seen across the
nation."
The event underscored the
commitment to excellence in education, as parents and educators celebrated the
success of students who will now proceed to higher education or pursue
professional opportunities.
