South African rapper Nasty C, famed for his chart-topping hits, is set to perform and speak at the upcoming "Access" festival in Kigali from November 14-16, 2024, at the Mundi Center.
Organizers
of the festival confirmed he will take the stage, not only to perform but also
to share insights into his journey in the music industry, focusing on
strategies to elevate the cultural sector.
However,
controversy sparked when Rwandan artist Davis D announced that Nasty C would be
performing exclusively at his "Shine Boy Fest" concert later in the
month. Scheduled for November 29 at Camp Kigali, this event will celebrate
Davis D's decade-long music career, featuring popular local artists like Bull
Dogg, Bushali, and Platini P. Following the Access festival’s announcement,
Davis D expressed that he and Nasty C’s team were unaware of any festival
participation, confirming Nasty C’s commitment solely to his show.
Davis
D clarified, "This is not accurate. After seeing the announcement, we
spoke with Nasty C and his team, who assured us he will only be performing at
‘Shine Boy Fest’.”
This
isn’t Nasty C’s first time in Kigali. The rapper last performed in Rwanda in
September 2023, alongside fellow South African rapper Cassper Nyovest, at the
BK Arena. Fans eagerly await his return, marking a year and a month since his
last electrifying performance.
As
a celebrated artist from Soweto, Nasty C has risen through the ranks, with hit
albums like Bad Hair and Strings and Bling, and several award wins, including
South African Music Awards. He is particularly known for hits like 'Said' with
Runtown and 'Particular' with Major Lazer.

D confirmed Nasty C won’t join the ‘Access’ festival, as organizers hadn’t
discussed it with him
