Itorero Inyamibwa AERG has announced its intention to commemorate and showcase Rwanda's cultural heritage and economic achievements at the upcoming event dubbed "Inkuru ya 30," marking 30 years since the country emerged from a devastating period of conflict.

This event, a first of its kind, is set to take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the BK Arena in Kigali. Itorero Inyamibwa, an esteemed cultural institution, has spared no expense, allocating over 24 million Rwandan francs for the one-day extravaganza.

Musicians from Rwanda and abroad are slated to grace the stage, promising a diverse and captivating lineup for attendees.

Speaking at the National Umushyikirano Forum held at the Kigali Convention Center on March 23-24, 2024, President Kagame reflected on Rwanda's journey over the past three decades, emphasizing the nation's evolution beyond its tragic history towards a future defined by progress.

"In these 30 years, Rwanda has achieved two things: it has addressed its past, but it has also transformed itself into a country that we desire, one that is different from its history," President Kagame remarked.

He highlighted the significant strides made in Rwanda's socio-economic development and the improvement of people's lives, stressing the importance of commemorating the progress achieved over the past three decades.

Itorero Inyamibwa has indicated that the "Inkuru ya 30" celebration will showcase various aspects of Rwanda's rich heritage and accomplishments.

During a press briefing on March 18, 2024, the Coordinator of Itorero Inyamibwa, Rodrigue Rusagara, expressed the significance of the event and its role in honoring Rwanda's journey towards prosperity.

"We are committed to promoting Rwandan culture and celebrating our achievements. Today marks 23 years since the inception of Inyamibwa. These aren't just celebrations; they are a testament to our resilience and progress," Rusagara stated.

He emphasized that Itorero Inyamibwa has been instrumental in nurturing talent and fostering national unity since its establishment at the University of Rwanda in 1998.

"As an institution, we have played a pivotal role in shaping Rwanda's trajectory. Today's event provides a platform to showcase our origins and address contemporary challenges," Rusagara added.

He continued, "Like AERG, which emerged in 1998 at the University of Rwanda in the aftermath of the Genocide against the Tutsi, we have witnessed tremendous growth. Today, as we celebrate 30 years, we have much to show for our nation's progress and the contributions we've made."

Rusagara invited the public to attend the event, promising a diverse program featuring traditional performances, cultural exhibitions, and a segment dedicated to Rwanda's history.

"This event will encompass everything from performances to historical retrospectives. It is an opportunity for us all to celebrate where we've come from and where we're headed," he remarked.

He clarified that the event is open to all Rwandans, with each citizen having a story to tell after 30 years of progress.

"Every Rwandan has a story to share in these 30 years. Our country has made significant strides, and we want to celebrate Rwandan resilience and progress in March, as we commemorate our heritage," Rusagara concluded.

In anticipation of the event, which follows the Rwandan presidential elections slated for July 2024, organizers have reassured the public of their commitment to marking 30 years and beyond, irrespective of electoral outcomes.

"Our decision to host the 'Inkuru ya 30' celebration ahead of the anticipated presidential elections in July this year is deliberate. We want to affirm our commitment to showcasing Rwanda's achievements and the aspirations of Rwandans beyond the electoral process," Rusagara affirmed.

Itorero Inyamibwa is commemorating 26 years of existence, having expanded its reach and impact globally. In recent years, it has held events in Europe, Rwanda, and countries across East Africa. After 26 years, Inyamibwa has achieved unprecedented milestones, having transformed lives and inspired communities worldwide.

In 2022, the institution represented Rwanda at the prestigious Festival de Confolens in France, marking its first international appearance at the world-renowned cultural event.
