Renowned Ugandan comedians Patrick Salvador and Dr. Hillary Okello recently graced Kigali with their presence, attending a comedy event showcasing the latest trends in humor known as 'Gen-Z Comedy', which has been instrumental in revitalizing the comedy scene.

Despite their impressive credentials in comedy, Patrick Salvador, with a decade-long career, highlighted his humble beginnings as a raw talent, emphasizing his journey from a novice to a household name in Uganda's comedy sphere. He has not only entertained audiences with his sharp wit but has also curated diverse stories that resonate with many.

The duo arrived at Kigali International Airport in Kanombe on Wednesday, 20th March 2024, greeted by a warm reception from fans eagerly anticipating their performance.

Scheduled to participate in the event on Thursday, 21st March 2024, at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village, known as Camp Kigali, alongside Rwandan comedians such as Nkusi Arthur, Rusine, Muhinde, Burundi's Kigingi, and others, Salvador expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the stage.

Salvador expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect with his roots, stating that attending the Gen-Z Comedy shows feels like "returning home." He also revealed his intention to extend an invitation to Fally Merci, a promising talent, due to his outstanding potential.

Moreover, Salvador emphasized the importance of showcasing the evolution of Ugandan comedy over the past two years, illustrating its growth and maturity. He stated, "I am grateful to Fally Merci. The success of these shows is a testament to our dedication to the craft."

Looking ahead, Salvador shared his vision for the future, aiming to celebrate 15 years in comedy by 2025, promising to continue inspiring and entertaining audiences with his performances, which he believes hold significant meaning beyond the stage.

Salvador's sentiments resonated with Dr. Okello Hillary, who echoed Salvador's appreciation for the support they've received from the Rwandan audience since their first visit in 2022.

Dr. Okello expressed his desire to express gratitude to both divine providence and the individuals contributing to the success of these comedy events. He stated, "I want to thank God, and I want to thank those who have contributed to organizing these events. Tomorrow will be significant. It will mark the beginning of something extraordinary — good news, hope, inspiration, and laughter for everyone."

Patrick Salvador's previous appearances in Kigali, particularly at Seka Live on 4th August 2022 and 31st July 2022, as well as Seka Fest in 2019, have left a lasting impression on his Rwandan fans. Additionally, Dr. Okello Hillary's participation in the Gen-Z Comedy event at Art Rwanda Ubuhanzi Incubation Center on 9th March 2023 showcased his dedication to the craft.

Their latest collaboration in Kigali underscores the growing popularity of Gen-Z Comedy, which has captivated audiences and brought together talents from various countries. With promising newcomers like Muhinde, Kadudu, Isekere Nawe, and others joining the lineup, the future of comedy looks brighter than ever.

Fally Merci, one of the rising stars set to participate in the upcoming shows, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing the importance of celebrating people's achievements and fostering collaboration among artists.
