Apart from Musanze FC, which did not participate in the 2025 Heroes Cup and was replaced by AS Kigali, this year’s tournament closely mirrors that of the previous year.
The 2025 Heroes Cup kicked off in Rwanda on January 28 and is set to conclude on February 1, 2025.
Police FC and APR FC have secured
their places in the final, with Police FC eliminating Rayon Sports on penalties
(3-1) and APR FC defeating AS Kigali with a 2-0 victory.
Interestingly, APR FC also reached
last year’s final after eliminating Musanze FC on penalties following a 1-1
draw in the regular time of the 2024 semi-final. Similarly, Police FC
eliminated Rayon Sports on penalties after a 1-1 draw, just as they did this
year.
With APR FC knocking out AS Kigali
and Police FC eliminating Rayon Sports, the final match is shaping up to be a
perfect replica of 2024, when Police FC and APR FC faced each other in the
final.
In the 2024 final, Police FC, led by
Peter Agbrevol, secured a 2-1 victory, with APR FC’s only goal coming from
Nshimirimana Yunusu.
On Saturday, February 1, 2025, APR
FC will once again face Police FC in the Heroes Cup final, with expectations
not differing much from last year’s outcome.
Key players to watch for Police FC
in the final include goalkeeper Niyongira Patience, Nsabimana Eric, Ishimwe
Christian, Bigirimana Abedi, Mandela Achlaf, Ani Elijah, Msanga Henry, Yakubu
Issah, Mugisha Didier, Alan Kateregana, and Byiringiro Lague, among others.
For APR FC, key players to watch include goalkeeper Pavelh Ndzila, Niyigena Clement, Niyomugabo Claude, Alioune Souane, Denis Omedi, Ndayishimiye Dieu Donne, Mahamadou Lamine Bah, Ruboneka Bosco, Hakim Kiwanuka, Mugisha Gilbert, and Dauda Youssif, among others.
