Police FC and APR FC will face each other in the final of the 2025 Heroes Cup after eliminating Rayon Sports and AS Kigali in the semi-finals.
Police FC secured their spot in the final by defeating Rayon Sports in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in regular time. Rayon Sports had taken the lead through a goal by Iraguha Hadji, while Police FC equalized with a header from Henry Musanga off a corner kick delivered by Allan Katerega.
During the penalty shootout, Police FC goalkeeper Niyongira Patience performed exceptionally, saving three penalties from Rayon Sports' Aziz Bassane, Omar Gning, and Youssou Diagne. On the other hand, Police FC converted three penalties, successfully taken by Ani Elijah, Mugisha Didier, and Allan Katerega.
Meanwhile, APR FC advanced to the final by defeating AS Kigali 2-0 in a match played on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. The goals for APR FC were scored by Denis Omedi, from a penalty, and Niyibizi Ramadhan.
This highly anticipated match will mark the second consecutive final between APR FC and Police FC in the Heroes Cup. While APR FC aims to claim the title, Police FC is determined to defend their championship, having defeated APR FC in last year’s final.
The final is scheduled to take place at Amahoro Stadium. After a dominant performance against AS Kigali, APR FC will be looking to avenge last year’s loss to Police FC.
Police FC and APR FC will clash in the final on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
