The Rwanda Premier League delivered exciting action as Rayon Sports, APR FC, and AS Kigali each claimed crucial victories in their respective matches on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
Rayon Sports continued to dominate the
league, defeating Police FC 2-0 in the 15th matchday at Kigali Stadium. The win
solidified Rayon Sports' position at the top of the table with 36 points.
At 45th Minute Youssou
Diagne scored the opener for Rayon Sports, finishing a precise pass from Fall
Ngagne. On 62nd
Minute Adama Bagayogo sealed the win with a brilliant solo
goal, showcasing his skill and composure as he navigated past defenders and the
goalkeeper.
Police FC's efforts to stage a comeback were
thwarted by disciplined defending and a standout performance by Rayon Sports
goalkeeper Khadime Ndiaye. The loss left Police FC in fourth place with 23
points.
On Oher Hand APR FC secured a narrow 1-0 win
over Musanze FC in a rescheduled Matchday 7 clash at Ubworoherane Stadium. At 73rd Minute
Mugisha Gilbert converted a penalty awarded after a handball by a Musanze FC
defender during a corner kick.
The win pushed APR FC to second place with 28
points, keeping them in contention for the league title.
At Kigali Pele Stadium again AS Kigali earned
a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Gasogi United in a Matchday 14 encounter. The
win lifted AS Kigali to third place with 26 points, as they continue to
challenge for a top spot in the league standings.
