Rayon Sports defender, Nsabimana Aimable, has taken a bold stand against his club after refusing to train due to an outstanding debt of 5 million RWF. The player’s decision has sparked a wave of reactions, as the Rwandan football community closely watches the unfolding drama.
Nsabimana signed a two-year contract
with Rayon Sports a year ago, with the club agreeing to pay him a total of 15
million RWF. However, only 2 million RWF was paid to him initially, leaving a
balance of 13 million RWF promised to be paid after a crucial match against APR
FC at Stade Amahoro.
After representing Rwanda in the 2024 CHAN qualifiers against South Sudan, Nsabimana was given 8 million RWF, but a balance of 5 million RWF still remains.
Unsatisfied with the partial
payment, the defender refused the club’s offer and insisted that the full debt
be settled immediately. As a result, he made the drastic decision to halt his
training sessions with the team.
This move was not just a pause in
his professional duties but also a formal letter to the management of Rayon
Sports, informing them of his decision and reminding them of the contract terms
they had agreed upon.
Rayon Sports management is now
expected to respond to Nsabimana’s message and discuss how the situation will
be handled, especially considering that other players have also not been fully
paid.
Despite this ongoing issue, Rayon
Sports remains at the top of the Rwanda Premier League with 33 points from 13
matches. The club is set to face Police FC on Saturday, January 4, 2025, in a
highly anticipated clash.
The situation between Nsabimana
Aimable and Rayon Sports is a stark reminder of the importance of honoring
financial agreements in football and the impact such matters can have on both
players and teams. Fans eagerly await the resolution, as it will undoubtedly
affect the team’s future performances.
