In a remarkable turn of events, the Rayon Sports Women's Football Club has clinched the championship trophy, stunning the defending champions, AS Kigali, in a gripping showdown. This victory marks Rayon Sports' inaugural championship win, signaling a significant milestone in their ascent to the top echelons of women's football.

As the final whistle blew on the closing weeks of the season, Rayon Sports secured the coveted championship trophy, edging out AS Kigali in a fiercely contested battle. This triumph not only represents Rayon Sports' first championship triumph but also signifies a watershed moment in the global landscape of women's football.

In an exclusive interview with InyaRwanda, Rwandans were urged to rally behind the team and support their journey to championship glory.

The team's captain, Sifa Uwanyirigira, emphasized the collective effort and dedication that fueled their success, stating, "Our journey has been marked by challenges, but we have persevered as a team. We have talented players who push each other to excel, and together, we have achieved something truly remarkable."

Uwanyirigira also highlighted the pivotal role played by the team's leadership and sponsors, particularly SKOL, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in their success. She remarked, "We are grateful for the support of SKOL and our leadership. Their commitment to our team's success is evident in their daily contributions and efforts to ensure we reach our goals."

The path to victory was not without its hurdles. Rayon Sports faced formidable opponents throughout the season, including APR Women's Football Club, their perennial rivals. Looking ahead, Uwanyirigira expressed determination to continue their winning streak and defend their title in future seasons.

The significance of Rayon Sports' championship triumph extends beyond the football pitch. On July 8, 2022, it was announced that Rayon Sports Women's Football Club had entered into a groundbreaking partnership with SKOL, solidifying a three-year sponsorship deal worth one billion Rwandan francs, inclusive of financial support and resources for the women's team.

Reflecting on the team's journey to success, former captain Uwase Andersène expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete at the highest level and highlighted the team's ambition to face new challenges head-on.

She stated, "We are prepared to face APR Women's Football Club and any other challengers. This championship win is just the beginning of our journey, and we are ready to build on this success."

Looking ahead, Rayon Sports Women's Football Club remains committed to upholding their legacy of excellence and inspiring future generations of athletes. With their sights set on continued success, they stand poised to write the next chapter in Rwandan women's football history.
