A Russian spacecraft that was launched on the far side of the moon landed unsuccessfully
On Sunday,
August 20, 2023, Russia announced that their Luna-25 spacecraft had disappeared
after hitting the Moon and disintegrating after they wanted to send the Indians
to explore the South end of the Moon.
It was
planned that the spacecraft would be the first to reach the South end of the
Moon, but the Russian plan failed the spacecraft that was about to fly where it
was supposed to deliver the Indian spacecraft. It is said that the spacecraft
was intended to conduct research in that period of the Moon, scientists believe
that part of the Moon may contain water ice, and precious stones.
Roscosmos,
Russia's state space agency, said the spacecraft lost contact on Saturday
afternoon, with initial indications that the 800kg spacecraft "was dead
after impact with the lunar surface". Roscosmos says that a special
commission will look into the reason for the loss of communication.
Russia and
India have been racing to reach the South Pole of the Moon, where India's
Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft is expected to land on the Moon in the coming days and
send a rover to explore the rocks and It is constantly sending images and
