Mexico: An Australian man rescued after two months in the sea with his dog

A 51-year-old sailor named Tim Shaddock from Sydney, Australia, was rescued by a fishing boat last week after the boat was sinking for two months. Tim Shaddock spent two months on a boat with his dog, living on raw fish and seawater.

Tim Shaddock and his dog Bella, in the month of April, they left the country of Mexico in the city of La Paz to the islands called Polynésie française (French Polynesia) and the storm and rain caused the ship to sink in the Pacific Ocean. They were on a 6000 kilometer journey.

Last week, he was rescued by a fishing boat after a helicopter located them in the sea. A doctor on board the fishing boat who rescued him told Australia's 9News that the sailor's condition is stable.

After the technical equipment was damaged due to weather changes caused by high winds mixed with rain, it prevented the ship from traveling at the current speed and did not continue its journey.

Rescued two months later off the coast of Mexico, he was emaciated and had an overgrown beard.

In a video he gave to the media 9News of his hometown in Australia.

He said: "I went through a very difficult test at sea. I just need rest and good food because I have been alone at sea for a long time. But otherwise I am very healthy."

Shaddock said the fishing gear kept him alive. He was later seen smiling and wearing a blood pressure monitor. He was able to eat light meals.

Tim Shaddock and the fishing boat that rescued him are returning to Mexico where he will be examined and given medical treatment.
